Meet the Cervantes family.

Elya informed me of two things from the get-go. She doesn’t like to wear shoes. And she didn’t want these pictures to look like they had been taken in a garden. (Although we really did take them in a garden)

Check and check.

When Gabriel first stepped out of the car my instantaneous thought to myself was, “Oh this kid is cool.” Once we started taking pictures Gabriel kept cracking Elya, Robbie and myself up with his cool faces — you’ll see as we keep going.

Elya, Gabriel and Robbie

This must be Gabriel’s serious face.

Check out that swagger. It’s all in the shoulders and the head tilt.

In addition to being 400% cool, Gabriel also had an awesome attitude about taking photos. You don’t get that with every 9-year-old boy, so I’m giving him props for it.

When it came time for some individual shots, Gabriel was ready with pose after pose. All I had to do was snap.

This is all Gabriel, folks.

Although Gabriel was a tough act to follow, Elya and Robbie did just fine themselves.

Looking good, you two.

Sweet family hug.

For the final portion of the session we did succumb a tiny bit to letting the pictures look more garden-y, but I got Elya’s permission first.

The one above is definitely a favorite.

If every session I shot ended with a head thrown back in laughter — I’d be okay with it.

I had such a fun morning exploring the gardens with you, Cervantes family!

Meet the Loseke family.

(That big blonde to the right is not included)

Over spring break I had the honor of taking the Loseke family photos in this picturesque little town they knew of near Aubrey. Here is a peek at a sliver of the pictures from their session.

Right as we started posing on the tracks the train horn sounded in the near distance. We scrambled off the tracks (Alex took off running a good deal farther than the rest of us) before deciding to use what we were given and include the whoosing train as our new backdrop — I think it ended up being better than the original picture.

Meleena, you kill me with your gorgeousness. And girls, you had better watch out for that Alex-smile.

And Brent and Paula, having raised the two models we just saw, were naturals in front of the camera themselves.

(Okay, so they’re not ACTUALLY models, but they certainly could be if they wanted to.)

Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee???

I can pinpoint the exact moment to right here. Here is when my brain REVOLTED against me and started causing me to call Alex “Brent” instead. Not just one, two, three, fourteen times — no, for the entire rest of the shoot I could only call Alex “Brent.”

Embarrassment nation.

For some reason I just fell in l-o-v-e with the front of this antique shop, so we camped out here for a while.

Look. at. this. family.

The horse in the background of this shot is particularly fitting for the Loseke family because Brent (“Brent” meaning the father, NOT Alex, the son, whom I also called Brent. Continuously.) is a big-time horse trainer. All horses, all the time.

I’d love to tell you that I purposefully said something witty and hilarious, but I very well may have just called Alex “Brent” again. For the 42nd time. It really did cross the point of ridiculousness.

Okaaaayyyyy. That’s sweet.

Seriously. You guys ARE models. I CAN’T MAKE THESE FACES UP, PEOPLE!!

Loseke family, you guys are great. Thank you for being your great selves in front of my camera.

Meet the Wilson family.

I met up with the Amanda, Joey, Carter and Abbey on a sunny afternoon a couple of weeks ago in Denton.

Amanda, I’m a firm believer in big bows on tiny baby girls too.

Carter is the type of three-year-old that needs to be constantly engaged in what’s going on or else he tends to wander . . .  like up the underside of a bridge. But Amanda just climbed up there to him and played right along with him.

It was then that I realized how much I admire Amanda and her mother-of-a-three-year-old morale.

I just love how it looks like Carter is break dancing in the picture on the left. As I mentioned in the sneak peek, Carter is energetic. To say the least. I described him to Amanda as one of those little toy cars that you wind up and just have to let go round and round in circles until they run out and need to be wound up again. She agreed.

Sweet baby Abbey couldn’t keep up with Carter, so she just slept contentedly in her daddy’s arms.

I was so pleased with the surprise ‘pop’ their blanket brought to some of the pictures with it’s pattern and color. Good going, Wilson family. High fives all around.

Home boy has some amazing eyelashes.

And home girl has some B-L-U-E eyes.

In looking through my pictures I would have to stop multiple, multiple times to shake my head at how gorgeous Amanda’s smile is. It definitely slowed down my editing a bit.

Goodness, aren’t they just adorable? Amanda and Joey, y’all are precious together. I repeat, precious.

I like this shot of Carter from the very end of the shoot because I feel like it’s the most serene one of him from the entire afternoon. The toy car finally wound down.

Wilson family, it was terribly fun getting to know your sweet family. Let’s do it again sometime.
