I’m putting this post together while James gets his cool, new curl-friendly haircut before we leave for our cruise on Saturday! We’re so excited but I’m trying to get as many posts out as I can to tide all my blog readers over for the week that we’ll be gone.
So, back to Britny and Carrigan. It’s so fun to look back on these photos that I took months ago — in the time since this session this cute couple has already tied the knot and been married for over two months so I have those photos to post soon too!
Britny has one of those country hearts that adores big Texas hair and cowboy boots so she and Carrigan knew that the perfect place for their session would be the one and only Fort Worth Stockyards.
I loved all of the sweet laughs shared between Britny and Carrigan but when the time came to work the more serious side, these two had that down as well.
It’s been nothing but a pleasure to photograph Britny and Carrigan and I’m so excited to blog their wedding in the near future too!
Hello, lovelies!
Well, I’m taking deep breaths and pushing through my mountain of editing through the end of the year. I’m looking forward to some rest in January — a new year during which I can change the things about my business that need changing and put into effect the lessons I’ve learned in this first year of professional photography.
But know that I’m thankful.
I’m thankful for this first year. For the first year steps. The first year mistakes. For the first year triumphs. Even the first year tears.
I know that I sound like a parent looking back on their child’s first year — but I guess that is essentially what I’m doing.
There will be more time for reflection and thanking as I move into the new year, but a small taste of it tonight won’t hurt anyone.
Please know that I’ve been a sneak peeking MANIAC on the Jillian Zamora Photography “like” page if you’d like to see some of my most recent work. Click here to see it, and feel free to click “like” on the page while you’re there!
I love you. I appreciate you. I am thankful for you.
And because no post is complete without a photo, here’s a shot from one of my most recent engagement shoots (it’s my cousin and soon-to-be-cousin!)
Meet my sister, Jalesa.
And that guy standing next to her, reducing her to a pile of giggles? That’s Sam.
They’re going to get married.
Last month Jalesa and I got in the car and set out on a 3-hour drive to  San Angelo, where Sam is currently based with the Air Force. With me living in Denton, an hour a half away from my older sister, I had actually been looking forward to the drive and the sister-bonding time. We didn’t turn the radio on for even one bit the way there or the way back.
I didn’t know where we’d take the pictures — I’d never been to San Angelo before — but upon arrival we decided to drive around until I said ‘stop’.
And when I saw this bridge? I said ‘stop.’
Before the shoot I had wondered to myself if this session would be easier because it was my sister and her fiance . . . or if it’d be more difficult because it was my sister and her fiance.
I’m happy to tell you that it unfolded so naturally. Right before my camera.
Jalesa and Sam.
Jalesa, you’re beautiful.
And fine. Sam, you have a really cute smile.
Gosh, guys. Y’all look good.
And happy. Really happy.
So that’s good too.
Now I’d love to tell you that this session had a happy ending BUT . . .
I hand my camera to Sam. (First I tell him to hold it with two hands.) Then I tell him I’d like a picture of me and Jalesa . I explain to him how to aim, focus and snap. The whole time I’m explaining he’s rolling his eyes and holding the camera with ONE HAND and tells me he knooooooooows how to take a picture.
Exhibit A:
Thankfully he redeemed himself with try number two. (I also reprimanded him for rolling his eyes before the first go-round.)
Jalesa, I love you.
And fine. Sam, I love you too.
My sister-heart is happy.
Meet Itzel and Miguel.
I’m actually catching up on my blogposts, so I’m just now sharing their engagements on the blog . . . four days after I shot their wedding! (To see sneak peeks from their wedding day, visit the Jillian Zamora Photography facebook “like” page!).
We started out their engagement shoot where their relationship began — in the second pew, on the left-hand side of  Iglesia Bautista Getsemani.
It’s where they were first introduced to each other.
This is also the exact place Miguel proposed.
And last Saturday, it’s where they got married. Well, not in the second pew. But it was well within sight.
Next, Itzel and Miguel brought out their favorite books — Miguel’s stack included fiction and sci-fi and Itzel’s showed her love of Spanish and medical science.
They both love reading, just not the same topics as the other . . .
Next we headed down to Sundance Square to highlight Itzel and Miguel’s wedding venue but FIRST we highlighted their love for movies.
Alright, I know what you’re thinking.
Actually, I have no idea.
This scenario developed with Miguel suggesting we integrate his star wars figurines into the session in some way. Itzel was not going to leave that suggestion without a girly counter so she decided she wanted to throw a tea party into the mix.
What we ended up with was a Star Wars tea party — a Miguel and Itzel original fusion.
We ended inside their favorite Starbucks — their favorite date spot.
I don’t think I could have possibly enjoyed this personalized session more.
And I know I couldn’t be happier for these two. Together.
